Um...Hi...I guess
Um...hi, I guess. I'm Haylee. Don't expect frequent updates, cuz technology kinda hates me. Also, I'm usually pretty busy. I'm a PI in Chicago, and a PI's work is never done.
Maybe I should start with a little background info. My full name is Haylee Cherish Morgan. To borrow a phrase from my partner, Harry Dresden, conjure by it at your own risk. I'm originally from San Diego, California, born and bred. I moved to Chicago five years ago after I got into a little...trouble with the local authorities. They were convinced I was guilty of a crime that I couldn't possibly have committed. My lawyer got me off with not even a post-it note on my record that wasn't already there, but things weren't the same. People looked at me differently after that...so I decided to get out. I threw a dart and ended up in Chicago.
Mostly I do straight-up detective work, but occasionally I'll stumble across a case that requires...a little something extra. To put it simply, I'm a professional witch. With my witchy side, I do mostly research, though I am pretty good at down-and-dirty alchemy when I need it. I think my personal record for creating an alchemic circle is about ten seconds. I've also got a knack for finding things, both in the PI business and in old, dusty tomes or on the internet (when it wants to work for me). I'm also pretty skilled with weapons, mainly a Japanese katana and sais.
I also save the world...a lot. It's actually kind of scary how often I help to save it. It's also amazing how naive people are. People don't want to admit that they're afraid of the dark, or more specifically, what lurks in the dark. The darkness in and of itself is completely harmless. I guess that's the scary part. We thought we knew everything about the world. Every day we're being proved more and more wrong. And as a race, we fear the unfamiliar.
I suppose there's a reason to fear the dark and what lives in it. There's always a very good chance that something in it is going to try to eat your face off.
